Great Plains Underground Construction (GPUC) was incorporated in 2001 when Great Plains Communications purchased an existing underground construction firm. GPUC's creation allowed Great Plains Communications to bring a construction firm into the Great Plains family acting as both a complement to the core communication business and a diversification opportunity.

Great Plains Underground Construction and Great Plains Communications have a natural symbiotic relationship. Great Plains Communications is a rural telecommunications company that, in the past, used several outside contractors for major installation projects. Now, GPUC is able to provide the major construction services necessary at a moment's notice to meet Great Plains Communications' outside plant installation needs.

GPUC has grown through the years and is the primary contractor for GPC's outside plant installation projects. GPUC anticipates the needs of our customers by keeping pace with technological advances in the rapidly changing world of underground construction. For example, GPUC installed Great Plains Communications' initial Fiber To The Home (FTTH) projects enabling both companies to gain experience in this exciting new technology.

The company's growth has allowed GPUC to expand and seek additional work outside of Great Plains Communications. Since laying our first telecommunications and power cables in 2001, we have successfully completed hundreds of projects throughout the Midwest for both public and private clients. Customer satisfaction is high and over 90% of our customers provide us with additional projects. GPUC's size, versatility and wide range of capabilities enable us to work as either the General or Sub-Contractor on telecommunication and utility projects.
